This program is intended for children ages 5-8 years old. Children’s Liturgy occurs during the Liturgy of the Word at Mass.
Children’s Liturgy offers a couple of important opportunities for you and your children. This is faith formation and a Mass formation time. It offers you, the parents, an opportunity to focus more on the Liturgy of the Word. During this time, we read the readings, review how to pray and listen to the readings, and then share a reflection to help the children connect to the reading on their level. More discussion vs lecture format.
During Children’s Liturgy we read the same readings the children would hear at Mass. When appropriate, the text of the reading is modified toward a more child level of understanding. We sing a Psalm which is presented to the children via an appropriate recording and poster with the words of the refrain. We also sing an Alleluia to go along with the Gospel. In addition to the children, we also need adults to help facilitate and guide. If you wish to help, please contact Lynda Middleton at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 937-228-1223.
